Bringing home a puppy is exciting, exhausting and sometimes completely overwhelming. From sleep and biting to socialisation, confidence and those all-important early foundations, I'll help you understand what your puppy needs now - while keeping the adult dog they're becoming firmly in mind.

Whether your dog is finding their feet in adolescence or has been an adult for years, there's always room to build better skills.
From recall and loose-lead walking to engagement, focus and everyday manners, I offer practical, personalised training that works for your dog and the life you share.
Good training isn't about age. It's about building skills that make everyday life easier.

Barking, lunging, aggression, anxiety or other behaviours that make everyday life difficult?
Sometimes the answer isn't simply more training. Understanding what's driving the behaviour is the first step towards finding an appropriate way forward.
I offer individual behaviour assessments to help you understand your dog and explore the next steps.
German Shepherds, Belgian Malinois and other powerful breeds aren't generic dogs - and raising them well takes more than generic advice.
I focus on the dog in front of me: their breed, development, temperament, environment and the life you actually want to share with them.
Because we're not just teaching behaviours. We're raising a balanced, capable adult dog.

German Shepherds and Belgian Malinois are intelligent, sensitive, powerful and endlessly capable - but raising them well takes more than teaching a list of cues.
The Balanced Shepherd grew from a belief that good training starts with understanding the dog in front of you: their breed, their development, their individual temperament and the life you're asking them to navigate.
My goal is simple: to help owners raise dogs they understand, enjoy and are genuinely proud to live with.

Dog training and behaviour is a field where there is always more to learn - and I take that responsibility seriously.
I'm a Level 4 Certified Dog Trainer, accredited with Will Atherton and Canine First Aid trained.
I'm currently completing an Advanced Diploma in Applied Animal Behaviour (Canine), alongside Level 5 Canine Behaviour Practitioner studies.
I continue to develop my practical skills through mentoring, professional development and hands-on work with dogs and their owners.
Because good trainers should never stop learning.
